"Morgan's Rifle Corps began in July 1775, when 75 men marched to join the army at Cambridge. These men, with their new spiral-grooved rifles, were a terror to the British. In Nov. 1776, Morgan became colonel of the 11th Virginia Regiment, and his old corps was made part of the new unit."
